Skinny Secrets!!

I received a ton of requests for me to blog on how I stay so skinny. Iknow what I’m about to say is going to make every girl despise me, but the realreason I’m so skinny is honestly due to my genetics. Everyone in my family is ultra-thin. I have the smallest bones on Earth, mywrists literally look like that of a 6 year old’s, so as a result, I will naturally always look super, dupertiny.

This will give you an idea of just how little I am. I'm almost 5'6, and I weigh a little over 98lbs. Although that may sound "gross" or "unhealthy", but I assure you, I do not have an eating disorder, this is honestly how God made me:

My boyfriend bet I wouldn't fit in this thing, I did!!!
We’reall blessed with something amazing- great hair, beautiful eyes, long legs- forme, it’s being skinny! I HATED it when I was younger. Kids would make funof me and call me Olive Oil, and in high-school I had to wear sweat pants under my jeans(sometimes 2 pairs!) because even the size 0 was WAY too big. I cried allthe time and even saw doctors to try and gain weight.

Nowthat I'm an adult and have finally filled out a bit, I love it :)

Withthat said, I do have to give effort if I want to keep my body looking skinny-tightrather than skinny-fat (and, yes "skinny fat" exists, skinny girlsget cellulite too!). I’d love to share my skinny secrets with you guys.

Diet. As far as dieting goes. That entire term is really a foreignconcept to me. I eat whatever Iwant, and I am a sugar queen- desserts are my weakness.

However, diet is the NUMBER ONE factorfor me on how my body will look. IfI eat poorly, it shows. AlthoughI’m still skinny, I get a little gut, and my butt/thighs look soft and gross also. When I eat clean, it really shows aswell- definition in my abs and all.

Here are a few live-by diet guidelines I follow when I want to look my best:

1. No Sugar (unless it's natural sugar such as in a piece of fruit)
2. No Carbs with Dinner, and
3. No Food at all after 8pm

These3 simple rules will turn my body from flab to fab in about a week. No exercise required. They say that diet is 75% of how yourbody will look, from experience, I absolutely agree.

Here's a photo from a trip I took to Amanpulo in the Philippines behind our villa. No photoshoop (you can even see my stretch marks in the side of my red butt!!), and it was taken by one of my bf's Jennifer Narbut goofing around with a regular camera. I followed these rules for maybe a week before this photo, and my body went from gross to glam (especially my little butt!).

AlthoughI don’t “diet”, I do have a few very healthy habits naturally, they definitelycontribute to why I’m so thin.

1. NO Alcohol. I DESPISE alcohol. Youcannot pay me to have a drink. Ittastes disgusting, and the way it makes people act is even more repulsive tome. I know that alcohol is full ofempty calories, so by not drinking, I’m likely sparing myself of tons ofunnecessary pounds (and morning regrets!).

2. No Soda. Also,I don’t drink soda. Carbonationburns my nose and esophagus. Ihave always hated soda, or any carbonated drink, even as a kid. Sodas are full of sugar and liquidcalories, so again, another step I naturally do that I’m sure helps contributeto my skinniness.

3. Small Meals. Although I eat junk, I don't eat a lot of junk at once! I have a little stomach, so I get full really fast. For example, if I get a burger, I can usually only finish half, then I'm full. An hour or two later, I'm hungry again and I'll eat the rest. They say that small meals throughout the day are the best to keep your metabolism running, so without even trying I'm again doing something to help stay thin.

Workout. I LOVE to workout. Cardio is a huge stress reliever forme, and sweating makes me feel alive. When I was in law-school I had the BEST body. I used to run about 3 miles, 4 times a week because I was sostressed out. Too bad I was toobusy with school to show off my beautiful body!

Thesedays, I have a few health concerns that prohibit me from running, and I don’t have a lot of time to squeeze in exercise anyway. My partner Jennifer Stano and I run aswimsuit company together, Have Faith – Swimgerie, and summer is our busiest season. When I do find the time to squeeze in a workout, I love to Spin, and Ihave recently become obsessed with Pilates.

Foranyone that hasn’t tried spinning, it is the most incredible cardioworkout. You can easily shed 1000calories in 1 hour if you give the class your all (in fact where I spin (CycleHouse in West Hollywood) they offer a class called “The 1000 Calorie Ride”, noone leaves until the calorie counter hits 1000!). When I walk out of a spinclass, I’m completely drenched insweat. The only downfall to spinning is that I actually get too skinny if I go too much! Althoughskinny is sexy, women need curves too.

Pilatesis the second type of workout I do when I have the time. It’s low impact, and it creates long, lean muscles rather than bulking you up. Pilates is definitely a great way to be skinny, yet still have a perkybutt, and definition in your legs and torso. My class is always filled withmodels, so clearly it's working for a lot of girls!

The definition in my legs is most definitely from the spin + pilates combo:

I hope this helps you guys, and I’m sorry I didn’t have some magic potion toshare on how I stay so skinny!!
xoxo,
Lilly Ghalichi

  1. hahaha this was a good post and the fact that you don't have a magic potion is better. I think we need to know there is no magic... hard work, diet or in your case genes - that's all there is!

    1. Thank you so much!! And, you're absolutely right, nothing in life comes without hard work. Even good genes require you to work to keep it sexy, maybe you don't have to work as hard as others, but you still have to work!

  2. I was really skinny when I was younger..I had to get a double 0 and I also got made fun of in school. I wasn't eating the right foods because I thought I could eat whatever I wanted whenever and it caught up to me so now i'm 22 5'2 at 140..yikes! I'm trying to get to 115 or 110 again. I hope I can spin with you sometime...I live in LA also Thanks Lilly :)

  6. I really enjoyed reading this. I recently got into spinning as well and in fact, I'm taking a yoga class tomorrow. I just ordered the Venom bikini and the orange dot tunic, omg Im so excited to receive the items and also very scared Ill look heinous in it. Lets face it, these arent your typical mediocre Target bathing suits. But, I have until June 30th, Im going on a boat party that day, to look my best. Ive been eating clean and just like you I eat half and the other half later and small meals throughout the day. I love the way you look and glad to know you're not just skinny fat. I don't want to just look good in clothes, I want to look good naked too. Nice, tight and toned. Oh btw, Im from Corpus Christi and attended UT. In fact, I lived at the 360 building at the time. OMG fun times! Hook'em

    1. Amazing!! I loved UT, and I love that you're a fellow Longhorn :) I bet Venom will look amazing on you, it's a really fun suit. And, keep up all the healthy habits and you'll wow them on the boat. Looking good naked is WAY more important ;) Skinny girls usually don't look good naked, FIT women look amazing naked, and it sounds like you're one! Keep it up!!!

Let the results you see now motivate you to work even harder. Picture yourself in that bikini while you work out, if you dream hard, and work hard, you'll get there :) xoxo

    1. I answered the comment below you before I read this, it mentions stretch marks and lasers. I have looked into lasering them, but honestly they don't bother me that much (well, that's also because I cover them with self tanner- see below). If I ever got more, perhaps I would consider it, but right now I'm fine with them. According to my derm, the laser DOES work though!

  10. lilly - i'm a huge fan of jen and LOVE that you have your own blog now too, especially because you write a lot! i'm a very slim girl too - i'm 177cm (i believe that's 5'8?) and i weight between 50kg and 52.5kg (i believe that's 110 lbs - 115 lbs) so i do fluctuate a little bit from time to time and i grew very fast as a kid. i used to have no boobs/ butt and then they kinda "came over night" with that being sad - i suffer from stretchmarks too!! and it's killing me - i literally get one whenever i gain muscle or just 2 kg! i have them (like you) on the side of my booty and worst thing on my boobs (to me they are very visible!). i LOVE my skinny and toned body but those strech marks ruin everything! do you have any remedy against it? i tried bio-oil, expensive lotions by clarins, scar creams etc and NOTHING helps - do you know of a proceedure to completely remove them? i would pay any amount of money to get rid of them!! i admire you for not hiding your "flaws" - you are amazing <3 xo V

    1. Wow you sound super hot, so tall and skinny!! My dermatologist once told me about a laser his office had to remove stretch marks. He is my friend, so he is ALWAYS honest with me. I asked him if it works and he said yes (sometimes he tells me it doesn't work and to save my money, for example he said the cellulite laser doesn't produce results worth the money). I haven't done anything for me as they don't bother me that much, but I can understand how having them on your boobs would be bothersome. Google lasers for stretch marks and see what you can find, next time I go to his office I'll ask for the name of the laser. Also, what I do for my butt ones is cover them with self tanner! I get a spray tan, and then I put even more self tanner just on that area, it covers them SO well. Maybe it will work for you too! I hope this helps :)

    2. Thank you SO much Lilly for taking the time to answer - you're so sweet! it would be amazing to find out the exact name of the laser treatment! btw - i just checked out your blog about your shoe obsession - LOVE it, the nude ones are to die for!! <3

  14. Thanks for writing such a great blog! I am so glad I came across this. It's wonderful to hear from someone that is naturally thin and tall. So many times people unfairly make the assumption that if someone is really skinny, that they must have an eating disorder. Just like people unfairly assume that if a person is overweight, that they are eating chips all day.
Thank you for breaking down stereotypes and showing that there really are naturally thin, healthy women out there!

    1. Just eat SUPER CLEAN. No carbs with lunch or dinner if you can do it, AT LEAST no carbs with dinner. Also, eating late really makes you add on pounds, your last meal of the day should be around 7pm. I don't care if you go to bed at 2am- NO FOOD after 7-8pm. Also, cut all the junk- fried foods, fast food, sugar, sodas etc. Just eat lean protein- chicken breast, fish, etc. Salt is also a big weight gainer, so try to cut that as well. Good luck, and don't be afraid of exercise also, cardio will help you drop weight so fast. Try spin!!

  24. Hi my name is Dee and I live in Maui. Dieting here is so hard because every one here lives on Carbs. I was born here and lived on eating rice with everything forever. Now I'm reaching 30 and haven't been 110 since High school. I had a baby 10 years ago but still haven't be able to loose all of the fat. So I'm here now hoping this will help me to better health. I just pray I can avoid carbs, that is very very hard for me.

Even though I still dont know you at all, I'm sure what I thought of you is so not true. I'm sure deep down you are a very nice girl and a very good friend any girl would love to have.
Just in case you were having a bad day, I hope this made you feel better :)

  40. Hi Lilly! I absolutely love you on Shahs of Sunset! I too am skinny. I weigh about the same as you but I am an inch shorter than you (I'm 5'5). I feel like you're my twin lol. I'm in high school and people are always trying to tear me down by saying rude things about how skinny I am and it seriously frustrates me to the core. Some nights I do cry but my amazing mom encourages me all the time and tells me how beautiful and blessed I am. Each day I am striving to be even more confident in myself than I was the day before. I have always been naturally skinny and my doctor says that I just have a fast metabolism. It's funny how when an overweight person talks rude about someone that is skinny, they are praised and no one see's harm in it but, as soon as a skinny person says something about an overweight person they are attacked. It is truly unfair and I honestly don't understand it. It's sad to know that people can be so rude and hurtful. But, I am no longer going to let people tear me down just to hide their own insecurities. No matter my size and no matter my weight, I KNOW that I am beautiful both inside and out. You are definitely an inspiration and super gorgeous! Keep doing what you're doing girl! Thank you for being an inspiration to so many girls! Love ya! xo :)

I LOVED you on Shahs this season. It's so nice to see a woman who exudes sex appeal and isn't ashamed because she has amazing beauty, some enhanced and others not. I'm glad that you aren't ashamed about admitting to the work you have had done and that people shouldn't judge you because of the way you look. Brains and beauty, the best combo anyone could have. If you're not happy about something about yourself, fix it! That's why God gave us plastic surgeons. I just wanted to know what type of athletic wear you use. I've had my boobs done and the rest of me is skinny and I can never seem to find tops that hold everything in and still look cute. I saw on the 'Lost footage' you were wearing a lululemon top. Could you tell me the name of it if you can remember? Again, love you and everything you stand for!

  45. Dry skin is a very common skin condition characterized by a lack of the appropriate amount of water in the most superficial layer of the skin, the epidermis. While dry skin tends to affect males and females equally, older individuals are typically much more prone to dry skin. The skin in elderly individuals tends to have diminished amounts of natural skin oils and lubricants. Areas such as the arms, hands, and particularly lower legs tend to be more affected by dry skin. Dryness of the skin is affected by the amount of water vapor in the surrounding air, the humidity. Dry skin is also known as xeroderma.
Dry skin may be a mild, temporary condition lasting a few days to weeks. Dry skin may also become a more severe, long-term skin problem for some. Symptoms of dry skin include discomfort from skin tightness and itching. In addition, external factors such as weather can affect the severity of skin dryness. For example, cold or dry air and winter weather can worsen dry skin. Individuals whose occupations require more frequent hand-washing and sanitizing may experience dry skin more often. Dry skin may also be a side effect of some medications or a symptom of an underlying medical disorder. . Dry skin
