I do!! My engagement ring!!!

I may not technically even have a boyfriend, but want to know what I do have? My engagement ring picked out!!! Haha. I'm by no means in a rush to get married, but I'm obsessed with diamonds, and they say if you manifest your dreams out loud, they'll come true.

What type of diamond have I chosen? A PEAR!!!

Pear shaped diamonds are definitely not a popular choice among women, but I'm not exactly an ordinary girl that likes ordinary things. I think pear shaped diamonds are so elegant and classy. They have a lot of brilliance and shine to them due to the way they're cut, and they just seem so feminine to me.

I'm obviously going to have a massive rock lol, so I want the rest of the setting to be super simple. Something like this:

I don't have a single friend, nor even know of a single person, that actually has a pear shaped diamond (which I love!), and the only celebrities I could find flaunting one were Victoria Beckham and Katherine Heigl.

When I was engaged previously (you can read about that HERE), the very first diamond I picked was a pear. I later switched to a cushion cut diamond because everyone kept telling me how "I would get sick of the pear" and that it was "too old for me". I was young and dumb to listen to anyone's bullshit. As a matter of fact, 2 days after I gave the pear back, I called my jeweler to tell him I had changed my mind and wanted it again- IT WAS SOLD and had already been shipped off to NYC. Clearly someone else didn't think they would get sick of it.

Next time around, I'm getting a pear and I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about it.

The left photo is the pear shaped diamond I had chosen a few years ago (about 4 years ago). It was beautiful. In the photo, it is not actually on a ring/setting. It is sitting in the jewelers diamond holder prongs and I just set it on my hand to see how it would look.

The pear I had chosen a few years ago was big and beautiful (a little over 6 carats), but I'm definitely upgrading the size this time around (at least 7+). As my sister would say, I'm worth it!

Ok dream of having a giant, beautiful pear shaped diamond, I just manifested you on my blog, now come to me!

xoxo,
Lilly Ghalichi

    1. The pear was a D in color and a VS1(which made it super duper expensive even though it wasn't as big as the other 2 in the photo)! It was so pretty and perfect- literally. I don't remember the specs for the other diamonds other than the size. The center diamond was about 7.5carat cushion cut and the far right 8carat cushion cut.

  10. Lilly, my boyfriend owns a few jewelry stores and he says beware of something called the "bow tie effect" I guess if the diamond isn't cut perfectly there will be two spots where the light doesn't reflect and it looks like a bow tie

But I'm sure your diamond will be perfect

    1. He's so right, I hate big bow ties in the middle of the diamond!! Thank you for the tip :)

  11. I'm not sure if this will work in your case but I asked for a 5 carat and got something much more substantial. Play it coy and hopefully he breaks and goes all out for you. Don't settle for anything smaller than a 7 and whine after if you have to lol that always seems to work for me

  12. So funny. My 3 year old nephew saw your pictures as I was strolling your blog yesterday.

He said, "She pretty...my new wife". LOL. I don't think he can quite afford the 7ct pear shaped engagement ring though. :( I'll let him down easy for you. :P

Beautiful rings. I've always said I want a huge round diamond. *manifests* Haha.

  20. lilly,

7 years ago when i was 18, my fiancé bought me a pear shape diamond, i was saying to myself at the time. why in the world would he get me a ring like this.. it was different which i wasn't used to, now that i'm older i regret it because its such a gorgeous ring and as you say its simple and elegant. I'm a very simple girl. at the time i wanted what was in style which i thought was in style.. unfortunately my engagement/ marriage did not last long , i had to give the ring back.. boo ;/ maybe when i do get engagement next time around, i will think a little more.

  22. I can't believe they sold the ring after 2 days of you changing your mind!!! It's definitely a stunner! Did you get to keep the other ring?? Or did you give it back when you guys broke off the engagement?

  23. My, that first piece sure looks lovely! You did come by some great finds. It seems you have great taste in jewellery. =)

  24. A pear-shaped diamond engagement ring is definitely a unique choice! The one you’ve chosen is gorgeous. That could become quite a trend, especially since one of the most fashionable women of the world, Victoria Beckham, had one as well. That cut would look great on your finger!

  25. shine of diamonds are making her more beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hah! You don’t have to be taken to know what kind of ring you’d like your significant other to put on you when the time comes. A pear is definitely a beautiful cut. It’s so different, but even more so elegant for it. It definitely looks really good on Victoria Beckham’s finger, too. I think the great thing about the pear cut is that it makes the finger look thinner and more elegant because of the tapering shape.

  27. I've been reading your blog and we have such similar backgrounds (you're Persian, I'm Armenian so obviously lol) You're amazing! I absolutely love everything about you!
I have always wanted a pear shaped ring as well. Everyone tries to talk me out of it saying "oh, it doesn't shine as much as the round one" but I think it's a beautiful ring! Hopefully you get a 10kt ring ;) don't settle for anything less!

I am a cancer patient that has lost all her hair. I have tried many wigs and I cant seem to find one that looks semi natural. I am not ashamed of my bald head, But it is affecting my two year old little girl because she doesn't understand. Would you mind telling me where you bought your bob wig? I love the super natural and chic look of it. I'd really appreciate you leading me in the right direction :) thank u!!! God Bless you
