Today's blog post is inspired by my feisty little friend hanging out at my house right now, hair stylist to the Gods,
Brandin Palestino.

Brandin and I are sitting here talking about this and that, watching videos of Kim Kardashian on Oprah, basically bitches being bitches. I appreciate all of the friends in my life, and I have a lot of really great ones. Of course, I will always have my girlfriends, but my
gay friends are so special to me and are such a big part of my life.

Gay friends are great because they're just like having a girlfriend, only without the cattiness, and occasional jealousy. They tell you the truth about how you really look (yes bitch, you look fat, go change....ewww that is not your color, wear this instead), they always want you to look and feel your best, and they won't try to steal your boyfriend; well, maybe....lol.

| Every group of girls needs their gay!! We love you Jonny Drubel!! |
My gay friends have actually been some of my number one supporters in life. Whether it's supporting my dreams, my relationships, or my businesses, I have found that my gay friends truly just want to see me happy in life. Many of them also have similar stories of teasing because they were "different" growing up, just as I was teased for being Persian and Muslim, so I usually relate to them on a much deeper lever.

With all this said, being gay is just another part of them, it doesn't define them as a person, but it does make them that much more fabulous :) So, if anyone reading this had been judgmental towards gay men, or apprehensive to make a new friend because they were gay or lesbian, I suggest you reconsider because you're really missing out on the potential for a wonderful friendship.
Every girl needs a gay....
xoxo,
Lilly Ghalichi
omg... vato stance. dude straight up leaned like a cholo!
ReplyDeleteIt was Halloween!! He was a cholo for Halloween, clearly he did a good job!! lol
DeleteLove them! They are so fab and honest :)Just curious, do you still practice your religion Lilly? Why would anyone make fun of you being Muslim? :( muah!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a small suburb of Houston, Texas. I was pretty much one of the only "middle easterns" or "muslims", which basically meant I was from India (that's the only middle eastern they knew of) and I was a terrorist. Today, I don't actually believe in organized religion, nor do I practice a religion. I do believe in a God, and the core values that all religions provide and stand for, but no I don't practice any particular religion.
DeleteHey Lilly,
ReplyDeleteHope your having a great night :)How did you meet these amazing men? Also do you speak any other languages?
Fanessa
Your biggest fan
I met each friend differently! I met Jonny through a mutual friend, he was her next door neighbor. I met Brandin at the hair salon, he gave me an amazing blowout, so I gave him my number lol! And, I met Etienne and Rokael at a photo-shoot for my swimline, they were the hair and makeup team for the models. I clearly make friends easily lol.
DeleteAmen to this! <3
ReplyDeleteSome of my best friends are gay and I absolutely love them! They usually get away with being able to say things that us females normally wouldn't accept from other females.
xoxo!!
Deletewhich nude lipstick/gloss/liner are you wearing in the pic with the sequin dress? looks perfect, super hard to find nude lipsticks. I read that you had tried fillers, I'm retouching my lips and considering doing my cheekbones to, where do you and your friends go in LA? I'm terrified of going to the wrong surgeon as I did mine in Europe, and need one over here now that I live here. You and your blog is truly inspiring. Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Honestly, I have SO many nude lipsticks, so I have no idea what I wore that night (it was at least 6 months ago)!! But, one of my favorites is "Nude" by D&G. You can get it at Saks. Dr. Taheri on Santa Monica Blvd is a great dermatologist for lips! I don't know about cheekbones/other fillers, but for lips he does a great job.
DeleteHi Lilly! Last year I experienced having all of my hair falling off due to a hair dresser having used too strong bleaching on my hair. This was at a professional hair salon I had been to previously, but I had never been to that actual hair dresser before. I have very little hair left, and it will take years to grow my hair out naturally again :( What would you do in this type of situation? Would you expect a monetary compensation? I'm trying to "woman up" and contact them, but it's hard :(
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so sorry! You 100% need to call them, I'm an attorney so what I would do is sue them lol. I'm sue happy though. My advise is to call the salon immediately, or even go up there. Explain to them what happened. They will at minimum give you your money back, but if there was negligence involved on the part of the hair dresser, you may want to seek more.
DeleteSo true, Lilly! Love your posts, keep 'em coming :) You're beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteCan you please do a makeup blog? Waiting anxiously for it :) Also a blog on make up/fashion tips & tricks? Thanks love, xoxo <3
ReplyDeleteI'll for sure get to that!!
DeleteI tried to send you a DM on twitter, but apparently can't do that unless you are following, whatevs. Dude, can I do a blog request (lol, DJ Blog, do you take requests?) Can you do one on your life after the bar? How your path lead you to everything you do now and how difficult/easy it was, etc? I love your posts about your life, but it's how you got here that super duper intrigues me. People always think I'm nuts for not wanting to practice law when I am done with all this and I'd like to see how it's done. How one escapes this madness. Though I think I read somewhere that you practice leisure law on the side. I'm sure all the law grads that follow you would love a post like that- i know i would!
ReplyDeleteD
ps- what exactly did you do during your down time between the bar and results? ahahhaha, i feel like I am interviewing you. what a nut. I've turned into a total nut. it is official.
I'll definitely get to a post about my journey to starting my own business after passing the bar etc. To give you the short answer of what I did after the bar: First, I traveled! I went to Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. I needed a break. Second, I got engaged and moved across the country to be with my fiance (worst mistake ever lol). Third, I began working at a firm :)
DeleteYeah, I am going to take a week off and go see fam on the east coast. When I get back, I might be going back to work for my last internship... I have to hit up my boss and see how that is coming along. I wanted to stay there and, in the hopes I pass the bar (I passed my diagnostic over the weekend, btw!), just wait it out there 'til an in-house opens up. Dude, in the last 3 weeks of studying, did you have to calm yourself down almost every morning? I feel so "not myself". I'm stressed, I have GNARLY zits (not something I'm used to), my motivation is waning, and I'm just REALLY anxious. I've become almost a chain smoker, when earlier this year I wasn't even smoking. I have no idea how to just calm the fuck down. :-(
DeleteLilly, what do you use to get your teeth so sparkling white? Beautiful! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteZOOM! laser whitening! I'll do a post on it today :)
DeleteHi Lilly,
ReplyDeleteJennifer once did a blogpost about her "special date night" products, can you do that too? I know it's a bit nosey but i would love to know.
Sure :) I'll get to that soon!
DeleteAgree with you 100%! I absolutely LOVE my gay bestie.. they are totally fabulous! Some of my best friends in life have been gay! This just made you THAT much more fab in my book ;)
ReplyDeleteAwww, so sweet. Thank you!!
Deletehey , are you and MJ friends or are you still enemies.
ReplyDeleteAlso do you find it hard to define who you are and what culture you belong to since the middle eastern society can be so judgemental
thnx xx
What languages do you speak?
ReplyDeletehi, do they allow you to enter arabia considering the way you dress? i am not being rude i was just wondering because i have heard that its very strict on the way women dress in the middle east. please clarify if i'm wrong. Also you look like kim kardashian but butter and your not fat:)
